DISASTER RESPONSE PLAN

On January 12th, 2010 at 4:53pm an earthquake measuring over 7 rocked the impoverished island nation of Haiti.  Port Au Prince, Haiti’s capital and home to over 2 million, is in ruins.  Thousands upon thousands are feared dead.  Those that have survived are now displaced, with nowhere to live, no food to eat, and no hope.

Open Door Haiti, situated 100 miles north of the capital is Haiti’s second largest city, Cap Haitian, is preparing to meet the need.  In partnership with Kids Against Hunger, WorldWide Village, Clean the World, Pure Water For Life, Cap Haitian Health Network, CARE, Royal, Missionary Flights International and others, we will aggressively be sending in relief supplies and teams to assist with the overwhelming need.  

Churches across Central Florida, in partnership with Open Door Haiti and Kids Against Hunger, are beginning to package millions of meals to be shipped to Haiti immediately.

IMMEDIATE RESPONSE (90 Days)

As of January 18th the Haitian government has ordered all survivors to evacuate Port au Prince. Many are moving north to Cap Haititen where Open Door Haiti ministries are preparing to embrace, comfort and serve the lost and hopeless.  Help us equip Open Door to meet this evident need in caring for misplaced Haitians.

OUR ONGOING EFFORTS

Open Door Haiti currently has several ministry divisions running with one simple goal in mind… Sustainability.

These programs have long-term vision with a mission to enrich the community and bring the word of Christ to the land. It would be easy to meet the Haitian’s basic needs, but we feel that is incredibly short sighted. By doing so we perpetuate an environment where people are continually looking for outside support literally begging for help. Open Door Haiti’s ministry programs are designed to lift the Haitian people up by providing medical care, vocational training, job opportunities and spiritual guidance. With these programs in place the Haitian people not only have the means to sustain themselves, but they also have real opportunity to find God’s purpose in their life.


CRITICAL NEEDS LIST TO SERVE

Open Door has a strategic plan which will meet the needs of those displaced and hopeless. We are partnering with other Haitian ministries to distribute daily provision and meet basic needs.
